"Since I started Program ENERGY, I have eaten a lot healthier. It has taught me to think about my health."
~Sara, 4th grade

PROGRAM ENERGY

Lessons once or twice/month or 3-6/semester. Internet and on-site program delivery

A major goal is to successfully disseminate, and then evaluate, “stand-alone” components of Program ENERGY, to two other classrooms (2nd to 4th grade) in Colorado and the Nation.

Current research will determine if a shorter, less frequent, less labor-intensive program is also effective.

Menus and guidelines

  • A school specific Program ENERGY will be built from the menu of options and guidelines with the assistance of the Program ENERGY staff

  • Each program will consist of a set of behavioral goals, at least one nutrition, health, science, and/or physical activity module selected from the options and a classroom or school health fair

Materials and resources to be provided to Program ENERGY sites.

These materials will include:

  • Lesson plans and other materials
  • Training manuals and videos for teachers, the school education team.
  • A resource kit that contains apparatus and props for core classroom and physical activities.
  • Ideas and planning guides for community and science museum events.
  • Monthly telephone/video conference coaching/problem solving session with the Program ENERGY Team at CSU.

Program ENERGY will be made available
for a reasonable site fee.
